Light 4.8 quake hits near Baganga, Davao Oriental, Davao, Philippines

Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) reported a magnitude 4.8 quake in the Philippines near Baganga, Davao Oriental, Davao, 39 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Thursday 31 December 2020 at 5:27 am local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Kinablangan (pop. 5,400) located 52 km from the epicenter, Baganga (pop. 10,100) 54 km away, Taytayan (pop. 6,900) 56 km away, Baculin (pop. 3,000) 59 km away, Mahanob (pop. 3,900) 60 km away, Cateel (pop. 6,600) 61 km away, Manay (pop. 20,300) 81 km away, and Bislig (pop. 67,600) 91 km away.
