Light earthquake of magnitude 4.6 just reported 65 km northeast of Tobelo, Indonesia

Just 12 minutes ago, a 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck near Tobelo, Kabupaten Halmahera Utara, North Maluku, Indonesia. The tremor was recorded in the evening on Tuesday 12 January 2021 at 8:51 pm local time, at an intermediate to considerable depth of 223 km below the surface.

The event was filed by Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG), the first seismological agency to report it.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Tobelo (pop. 10,000, 65 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
