Just 38 minutes ago, a 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck near Fayzabad, Faīẕābād, Badakhshan, Afghanistan. The tremor was recorded early morning on Thursday 11 March 2021 at 3:19 am local time, at an intermediate depth of 140 km below the surface.

The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the United States Geological Survey which listed the quake at magnitude 4.3 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Jurm (pop. 12,100) located 45 km from the epicenter, Ashkāsham (pop. 12,100) 51 km away, and Ishqoshim (pop. 26,000) 59 km away. In Fayzabad (pop. 44,400, 80 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
