An earthquake of magnitude 4.0 occurred only 16 minutes ago 31 km east of Tsu, Japan, Japan's National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED) reported.

The quake hit at a great depth of 356.2 km beneath the epicenter near Tsu, Mie, Japan, in the morning on Monday 12 April 2021 at 10:44 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage.
