Moderate magnitude 4.4 quake hits 88 km northeast of Bitung, Indonesia early morning

An intermediate magnitude 4.4 earthquake was reported early morning near Bitung, North Sulawesi, Indonesia.
According to Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the quake hit on Thursday 22 April 2021 at 5:24 am local time at an intermediate depth of 77 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.4 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Bitung (pop. 137,400) located 88 km from the epicenter, and Laikit, Laikit II (Dimembe) (pop. 8,000) 103 km away.
