Small magnitude 3.0 quake hits 22 miles north of Santa Rosa, California, United States late at night

The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 3.0 quake in the United States near Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, California, only 9 minutes ago. The earthquake hit late at night on Wednesday 28 July 2021 at 11:30 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 3.4 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.0 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Cobb (pop. 1,800) located 4 miles from the epicenter.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Hidden Valley Lake (pop. 5,600) located 9 miles from the epicenter, Healdsburg (pop. 11,700) 14 miles away, Russian River (pop. 11,700) 14 miles away, Clearlake (pop. 15,200) 14 miles away, and Windsor (pop. 27,500) 16 miles away. In Santa Rosa (pop. 175,000, 22 miles away), and Rohnert Park (pop. 42,400, 29 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
