Magnitude 4.3 earthquake strikes near Mawlaik, Mawlaik District, Sagaing Region, Myanmar (Burma)

An earthquake of magnitude 4.3 occurred only 13 minutes ago 32 km northwest of Mawlaik, Myanmar (Burma), India's National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported.
The quake hit at an intermediate depth of 75 km beneath the epicenter near Mawlaik, Mawlaik District, Sagaing Region, Myanmar (Burma), in the morning on Thursday, September 16th, 2021, at 10:49 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.3 as well. A third agency, Thailand's Earthquake Observation Division (TMD), reported the same quake at magnitude 4.3.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Mawlaik (pop. 44,500) located 32 km from the epicenter, Kakching (pop. 30,400) 73 km away, Churāchāndpur (pop. 47,800) 76 km away, Moirāng (pop. 17,100) 83 km away, Thoubāl (pop. 44,500) 88 km away, and Mayāng Imphāl (pop. 22,200) 88 km away.
