Significant 5.4 quake hits near Delhi, Vera Cruz, Municipio de Dili, Timor-Leste

The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter near Delhi, Vera Cruz, Municipio de Dili, Timor-Leste, in the evening on Saturday, October 30th, 2021, at 8:11 pm local time. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the United States Geological Survey, which listed it as a magnitude 5.5 earthquake. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 5.5, France's Réseau National de Surveillance Sismique (RéNaSS) at magnitude 5.4, and the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 5.4.
Generally quakes of this magnitude are recorded by more than one agency and the results can vary, with subsequent reports that come in after the first one often showing more accuracy.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Delhi (pop. 150,000) located 106 km from the epicenter, Likisa (pop. 19,000) 109 km away, Maubara (pop. 16,300) 115 km away, Gleno (pop. 8,100) 124 km away, and Aileu (pop. 17,400) 125 km away.
