A short-lived explosion occurred at the volcano yesterday and produced an ash cloud to 20,000 - 25,000 feet, which drifted to the W-NW, the Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) reported. Ash emissions can also be seen on today's satellite image attached. Read more... lire toutes

Shishaldin Volcano continues to erupt episodically. USGS AVO report that seismic levels were variable throughout the week, with elevated activity early in the week and over the past 36 hours. This was accompanied by strongly elevated surface temperatures suggesting renewed lava effusion. Persistent clouds have obscured observations of eruptive activity in the web cameras.

USGS AVO reports that Shishaldin Volcano has been in an eruptive hiatus over the past several days, with low seismic tremor and only weakly elevated surface temperatures, consistent with cooling lava flows. No anomalous activity has been observed in AVO’s satellite and webcam data, and no ash plumes have been detected.

The Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) reported that during the last 24 hours seismicity at the volcano increased to a level similar to that observed during other eruptive periods over the past few weeks, consistent with the resumption of eruptive activity at the volcano. Read more... lire toutes

Over the past 24 hours, the Alaskan Volcano Observatory recorded seismicity levels at Shishaldin Volcano and found that they had climbed to a level similar to that observed during other eruptive periods over the past few weeks, consistent with the resumption of eruptive activity at the volcano. This is further supported by strong surface temperatures observed in cloudy satellite images. Between heavy clouds, AVO noticed either a lava flow or lahar through webcam images extending down the southeast flank of the volcano. No ash plumes have been detected.

Alaska Volcano Observatory reported that seismic tremor at Shishaldin has increased over the past day. Satellite and web camera observations were partly obscured by clouds over the past day but elevated surface temperatures in the summit crater were observed in several clear views.
