Introduction
Semevskii (1965) considered a Holocene age to be a reasonable probability for all the young volcanoes on Spitsbetgen, but more detailed glacial and volcanic stratigraphy indicates that Sigurdfjell is an eroded diatreme of similar age to Sverrefjell,which is considered to be between 100,000 and 250,000 years old (Skjelkvale et al. 1989).---
