Our correspondent Andi who is on location and talked with staff from the volcano observatory warned that the mass of new lava emplaced in unstable positions has again reached critical values, and might be producing new pyroclastic flows soon:
"After the last big pyroclastic flow which devastated the village of Gamber on 21 May and killed 9 people there, the new lava dome has been growing, forming a (new) lava lobe that has been becoming longer each day. According to the observatory post, Sinabung has been effusing lava at a rate of approx. 300.000 cubic meters per day and by now, a volume of 1,5 million cubic m is hanging on the unstable southeastern upper flank (in the new lobe).
Tremor have been decreasing today and seismicity is dominated by rockfalls due to pressure underneath. When the newest lava lobe collapses (and generates again dangerous pyroclastic density currents) is only a matter of time.

A series of pyroclastic flows occurred yesterday afternoon - sadly, at least one of them was was much larger than most others during the past months and claimed several fatalities among local farmers who were working on their fields within the exclusion zone, approx. 4 km from the volcano. The latest update includes 7 dead and at least 2 badly bunt among the victims. ... lire toutes

Two small to moderately sized pyroclastic flows occurred this morning at the volcano. lire toutes

The explosive / effusive eruption continues with little changes. Rising viscous lava accumulates in the summit crater where as a dome; intermittently, it produces small to moderate explosions (ash plumes rising 1-2 km) and incandescent rockfalls and/or small pyroclastic flows on the eastern side where the crater is breached. lire toutes

No significant changes in activity have occurred recently. The volcano continues to produce occasional small to moderate vulcanian-type explosions, at rates of typically one or two per day, with ash plumes that rise 1-1.5 km above the crater. lire toutes

The volcano's current and long-lasting eruption (now well in its 3rd year) continues essentially unchanged: viscous lava slowly rises into the summit crater, building up a complex dome that over-spills as sticky lobes onto sections of the upper outer slopes on the southeastern side. lire toutes
