dim., 3 nov. 2013, 09:52
Activity has remained similar since our previous visit 9 days ago: most activity is at the NW crater (towards Ginostra), where 3 vents are active and produce mild to strong strombolian explosions (to heights of up to 250 m approx) at rates of one every 5 minutes approximately, mostly from the eastern vent and sometimes from the tall hornito to the north. The eastern vent also shows weak spattering and continuous glow, suggesting a high magma level within its conduit. ...plus

Strrong strombolian explosion from the western vent of Stromboli (24 Oct)
Activity has picked up during the past week. During a visit yesterday afternoon and evening, we observed frequent and often strong strombolian eruptions from the NW vent (Ginostra side), which had enlarged a lot since early this year. ...plus [lire toutes]

According to the local mountain guides from Magmatrek, activity has increased significantly during the past 3 days, especially at the NW vent. A group of VolcanoDiscovery has arrived on the island and will report in more detail in the following days.
jeu., 10 oct. 2013, 14:15
Our friend Petra who climbed the volcano last night reports that activity is rather low at the moment. There were no explosions observed during the time spent at the summit (about one hour).
jeu., 25 juil. 2013, 14:53
Activity has been at relatively low to moderate levels recently. Explosions of small to medium size occur regularly from the "usual" (mainly the eastern and western) vents.
jeu., 6 juin 2013, 15:08
When observed during 3-6 June, the volcano was at normal levels of activity which had not changed significantly since our last visit 2 weeks ago. On the crater terrace, about 7 active vents were present, with eruptions every about 15-20 minutes: the two vents in the NW crater sometimes erupted simultaneously, one with low ejections of blocks, scoria and ash, the other with loud turbine-like jets of gas and lava fragments that often reached about 250 m height. The hornito at the NW crater rim was not seen erupting. ...plus [lire toutes]

Explosion from the NE vent of Stromboli on the INGV webcam
Activity continues at moderately elevated levels. Spectacular explosions especially from the NE crater can often be seen on the webcam as well.

Strombolian eruption from the NE vent (21 May 2013)
Explosive activity at Stromboli is currently at normal to moderately high levels, but the magma column has obviously dropped considerably compared to previous weeks, as there are no longer lava overflows. We observed the volcano during the past days and found a total of 8 active vents in the crater terrace, out of which 4 were showing their typical different strombolian activity: ...plus [lire toutes]

Thermal image of the crater area of Stromboli (INGV Catania)
Over the past days, Stromboli has returned to normal levels of activity with frequent, mostly small to medium-sized explosions and low to medium tremor. Small lava overflows and frequent rockfalls still occur.
mer., 15 mai 2013, 14:48
Seismic signal from Stromboli this morning (STR8 station, INGV)
Activity has remained generally elevated and seems to have increased yesterday. Current seismic recordings show strong explosion signals and an increase in tremor. A small lava overflow is currently visible from the NE crater.
