Introduction
Early investigators considered Sverre to be of postglacial age based on its location in a glacially carved valley. Semevskii (1965) assigned an age between 6500 and 4000 years before present (BP) marine terraces. A more detailed study of glacial and volcanic stratigraphy suggests an age between 100,000 and 250,000 BP (Skjelkvale et al. 1989).---
