Path of the 2016 total solar eclipse and our observation location
A total solar eclipse will occur on 9 March 2016 and be visible in SE Asia and parts of the Pacific. The islands around Ternate in the Molucca Sea of Indonesia are located on or near the center line of the eclipse and are regarded as possibly among the best locations to see this unique natural spectacle.
We will choose the most promising spot as close to the center line as possible: the top of Makian or Moti islands, both almost exactly on the center line of the eclips'e path, giving more than 3 full minutes of totality!
We take the occasion to combine this with a volcano tour with our great volcano team in Indonesia. If you're interested, hurry up to sign up - seats on flights in particular must be reserved very early!

Pick up service by a local guide / driver and transfer to hotel near airport.

The extension from 11 to 18 March is suggestion based on current conditions (early 2015), but if other volcanoes are particularly active at that time and within reasonable reach in Indonesia during the same time frame, we can adapt and change the program.

J 6-16: Soputan - Karangetang - Lokon volcanoes
Day 6 (11 March): Flight Ternate to Manado, transfer to Tomohon (at the foot of Lokon). Hotel (B,L,D )
Day 7 (12 March) : Climb Lokon - back to hotel. Hotel (B,L,D )
Day 8 (13 March): Transfer to Soputan - Camp at the south flank near the recent eruption. Camp (B,L,D )
Day 9 (14 March): Soputan volcano - transfer to Manado. Hotel (B,L,D )
Day 10 (15 March): Sail by ferry (4,5 hours) to Siau island - camp at the foot of Karangetang volcano. Camp (B,L,D )
Day 11 (16 March): Karangetang volcano - transfer to hotel / camp at another location (B,L,D )
