Krakatoa volcano: eruption Nov 2018 - movies
A selection of movie clips from our tour to Krakatau 18-24 Nov. Tom and his group were lucky to observe intense eruptive activity especially during the first days on the island (19-21 Nov), including lava fountaining, lava flows, strong strombolian to vulcanian explosive activity:
Evening eruptions from close (20-21 Nov)
Observation of strombolian activity from Anak Kraktau from close range. Lava bombs were sometimes falling only few hundred meters away from us and when activity eventually increased, we were forced to retreat.
Krakatoa volcano eruptions from close (20-21 Nov 2018)
A compilation in double speed of strombolian activity observed from close range on Anak Krakatau volcano itself.
Evening show - pulsating lava fountains and strombolian activity (19 Nov)
What better movie to watch when you're on a paradise beach at night?
Large explosion (19 Nov evening)
Sometimes, explosions were much larger than others, sending glowing lava bombs all over the cone and often accompanied by a loud booming noise as in this case (wait for the shock wave to arrive a few seconds after the eruption). Includes Ruth's surprise call when the explosion started;-)
Near continuous low lava fountains (19 Nov)
During the night of 19 Nov 2018, Anak Krakatau showed still intense activity including small pulsating lava fountains and the effusion of a new lava flow descending on the southern slope of the summit cone.
