Canlaon volcano (Philippines) - update

Canlaon continues to produce mild steam and ash clouds, which rise up to around 5-700 m above the active crater and sometimes causing problems with local air traffic and shutdown of nearby airports.

Canlaon continued to manifest episodes of mild steam and ash emissions, producing ash and steam clouds, which rise up to around 700 m above the active crater.
5 April, 2005:
Canlaon Volcano, one of the most active volcanoes of the Philippines, killing 3 hikers in a sudden steam explosion in 1996, remains active and is in a mild phase of strombolian activity. During the past days, ash emission have been observed producing ash and steam plumes reaching 200 – 500 m above the crater.
A 4 km radius zone around the volcano is strictly off-limits. because damaging steam driven explosions may suddenly occur with very limited precursors.
