Fuego Volcano (Guatemala): lava flow advancement

Saturday Mar 21, 2020 00:36 AM | BY: MATTHEW

INSIVUMEH report weak-moderate explosions, in a range of 10 - 12 per hour, expelled grey ash plumes, at heights between 4500 to 4800 m.a.s.l (14763 to 15748 feet) that scattered to the west, approximately 15 kilometers. Ashfall occurred in the villages of Morelia, Panimache, Santa Sofía, Sangre de Cristo, Yepocapa and few others. A number of explosions generated weak rumbling and shock waves. During low light, incandescence was observed from the crater that threw pulses of ejecta 200 meters high, accompanied by avalanches of moderate to large blocks, in the direction of the Taniluyá, Ceniza, Las Lajas, Trinidad, Seca and Honda ravines. In some of these regions, blocks reached the vegetation. The lava flow is now 1000 m in length in the direction of La Trinidad Canyon.
