Fuego volcano (Guatemala): continuing lava flow
Monday Sep 14, 2020 08:40 AM | BY: MARTIN
Incandescence and lava flow at Fuego volcano on 11 September visible from satellite (image: Sentinel 2)
Effusive-explosive eruption of the volcano continues at moderate levels.
INSIVUMEH reported that the lava flow
in Ceniza direction has increased in length, currently about 400 m long.
Moderate to strong explosions at regular intervals of 12 to 16 per hour generate a grey ash plume which reached approx. 15,420 ft (4,700 m)
altitude. Ash emissions are extending about 20 km to the west and southwest of the volcano.
Incandescent material is ejected to an approximate height of 150 m-300 m above the crater with weak to moderate avalanches towards the Seca, Ceniza, Trinidad, Las Lajas and Honda direction.
