Lava fountain from Fuego during 10-11 Dec 2014
A small paroxysm occurred at the volcano during the night between Wed-Thu, INSIVUMEH reports in a special bulletin. Activity, which generally had been elevated over the past weeks, increased during the evening of 10 Dec and towards a phase of continuous lava fountaining of 100-150 m height. Turbine-like degassing sounds accompanied the eruption. ...more

Explosive activity has decreased a bit and is now at average levels. The observatory reported 28 explosions of small to medium size during 24 hours (compared to 6-8 per hour at the end of Nov), and ash plumes rising up to 1000 m above the crater.

Strong eruption at Fuego volcano in Guatemala last night
Explosive activity has been relatively high recently with up to 6-8 explosions per hour. Some of them covered the whole upper cone with incandescent bombs and their shock waves are reported to be felt or heard in up to 30 km distance.
