Fuego volcano this morning
Effusive activity increased yesterday, when 3 lava flows descended from the summit, reaching 1500 m length on the southern flank (Trinidad ravine), 1500 m on the SW flank (Las Lajas) and 1200 m on the western flank (Santa Teresa ravine). ...more

Lava flows from Fuego volcano this morning
The activity at the volcano has been increasing since a few days ago. The effusion rate has risen significantly. Pulsating lava fountaining and strong, detonating strombolian explosions several hundred meters high from the summit vents are currently feeding at least 3 relatively large lava flows descending on the western and southern flanks: ...more

Fuego's lava flow last night (image: Alex Jones Photography via CONRED / twitter)
Another paroxysm - a peak in activity with lava fountains and lava flows - occurred at the volcano last night, the 10th such event this year. It seems that activity with increasing effusion rate began during the night Sunday-Monday, as the volcano observatory reported a new lava flow on the southern flank the next morning. It was headed towards the Las Lajas and El Jute drainages and had reached 1500 m length by Monday morning. ...more

The volcano has been at average activity levels during the past days, with intermittent weak to moderate, sometimes stronger strombolian-type explosions (every 1-3 hours on average), sometimes accompanied by shock waves. ...more

Lava flows on Fuego volcano on 10 Oct 15 (INSIVUMEH)
Another paroxysm, the 9th this year, occurred at the volcano during 10-13 Oct. Strongly increased lava effusion and violent strombolian activity produced intermittent lava fountaining up to 300 m high, and re-alimented the two lava flows on the southern and western slopes, which reached 1000 and 1300 m length. ...more

Activity has calmed down. Explosions have been only of smaller size, but the lava flows on the upper southern and western flanks remained weakly active last evening.
