Seismic activity of Fuego volcano today (FG3 station, INSIVUMEH)
The activity at the volcano has again been increasing during the past days. The volcano observatory reported frequent moderate strombolian-type explosions ejecting glowing lava fragments to 250 m above the crater. Moderate to strong shock waves accompany the explosions. ...more

During the past days, another paroxysm (the 4th in 2017 so far) occurred. According to INSIVUMEH, it was one of the most energetic eruptive phases of the volcano inthe past 5 years and classified as VEI 3 (vulcanian eruption) on the logarithmic volcanic explosivity scale. ...more
