Fuego volcano (Guatemala) activity update
Saturday Nov 10, 2012 08:34 AM | BY: T
It appears that the lava erupted from the crater has been becoming more fluid and explosions less ashy, but richer in incandescent material.
During 8-9 Nov, there were 15 strombolian explosions with ash plumes of 3-500 m height and incandescent bombs being ejected to 150-200 m height, lasting 25-40 seconds, and generating avalanches on the upper outer crater flanks.
The lava flow toward Ash Canyon was 500 meters long and produced block avalanches that reached the vegetation line.
Thursday, Nov 08, 2012
13 weak explosions occurred since yesterday producing ash plumes rising about 500 m and ejecting incandescent material to up to 100 m above the crater, and falling back onto the upper outer flanks. ...
Wednesday, Nov 07, 2012
Weak strombolian activity continues and the lava flow, 600 m long on 6 Nov, is still being alimentated. During 5-6 Nov, INSIVUMEH counted 6 explosions with ash plumes rising a few 100 m and observed incandscent material ejected to up to about 100 m height.
Monday, Nov 05, 2012
Activity continues dominated by the effusion of lava. The lava flow toward Ash Canyon extends 800 meters and blocks detaching from its front roll down to the edge of the vegetation. ...
Friday, Nov 02, 2012
Strombolian activity has been low with only 8 weak explosions recorded in the past 24 hours. Ash plumes rose about 3-400 m and incandescent material to 50 m above the crater. The lava flow was 200 m long.
Wednesday, Oct 31, 2012
During 30-31 Oct, there were 7 weak explosions with ash plumes up to 600 m high and incandescent material rising about 100 m. ...
