Fuego volcano (Guatemala) activity update
Tuesday Feb 19, 2013 16:52 PM | BY: T
Today's seismic signal from Fuego (FG3 station, INSIVUMEH)
The volcano has calmed down and is back to its typical activity with occasional mild strombolian explosions, generating ash plumes rising 5-800 m above the crater.
Tuesday, Feb 19, 2013
INSIVUMEH reported that during 14-15 February white plumes rose 150 m above Fuego's crater and drifted W and NW. The lava flow traveled 500 m SSW down the Ceniza drainage and produced avalanches. Activity increased on the night of 16 February and was characterized by explosions, pyroclastic flows, and lava flows. ...
Monday, Feb 18, 2013
A phase of strong activity took place at the volcano between the evening of 16 Feb and and yesterday. Increased lava effusion led to the rapid advance of the active lava flow on the steep upper southern slope. The flow produced many incandescent avalanches that turned into pyroclastic flows that produced ash plumes rising about 3,000 m and drifting 10 km to the west, the latest special bulletin of INSIVUMEH reports. ...
Sunday, Feb 17, 2013
A stronger phase of continuous ash emissions has been reported. An ash plume reaching 16,000 ft (4.8 km) was observed extending 10 nautical miles to the NW. ...
Tuesday, Feb 12, 2013
After a short period with little effusive activity, a new lava flow has started to descend towards the Ceniza drainage. Strombolian activity at the summit remains weak.
Wednesday, Feb 06, 2013
11 explosions including a moderately strong one were counted during 5-6 Feb. Weak strombolian activity was seen at night with incandescent blocks thrown to about 100 m above the crater. The lava flow continues to be active and was 300 m long.

Solar Eclipse & volcano tour
: A total solar eclipse will occur on 14 Dec 2020 and pass over southern Chile and Argentina. Chile's most active volcano Villarrica is located exactly on the center line where the eclipse will be best to observe.
We offer you the unique chance to combine the eclipse with a tour to one the world's most beautiful volcanic areas - the Lake District in Chile.
