Fuego volcano (Guatemala) activity update

Fuego volcano eruption on March 4, 2013 (photo: INSIVUMEH)
The eruption continues with the near-constant strombolian explosions reaching some 300 m above the crater and generating constant avalanches and rumbling sounds. An ash plume is rising to an altitude of 4600 m and moving south at a distance of 10 kilometers.
On the western and southern flanks of the volcanic complex two lava flows are active and reach 1300 meters in the direction of the Trinidad canyon, and 200 m southwest towards the Taniluya canyon, respectively.
INSIVUMEH estimates that this activity might last for several hours, and warns of the possibility of pyroclastic flows.
The current seismic signal suggest that the eruptive activity has already started to decrease compared to last night.
Sunday, Mar 03, 2013
During the last hours, the lava effusion has significantly increased and the active lava flow towards the canyon Trinidad has reached 1,000 meters in length. At the summit, strombolian-type explosions are continuous and produce constant degassing sounds. ...
Friday, Mar 01, 2013
A new lava flow has appeared from the summit crater of Fuego volcano and is traveling towards Trinidad canyon and about 300 m long. Weak explosions occur from time to time as well, with plumes rising only a few 100 meters. The current seismic signal shows an increase of activity over the past hours.
Wednesday, Feb 27, 2013
Weak to moderate strombolian explosions with ash plumes rising about 600 m and drifting for 10 km were reported today.
Tuesday, Feb 26, 2013
Mild strombolian activity continues, with incandescent pulses of about 100 m heigh and ash plumes rising up to about 700 m above the crater.
Friday, Feb 22, 2013
INSIVUMEH reported weak strombolian activity, but no active lava flows.
