Fuego volcano (Guatemala) activity update

Activity has not seen significant changes over the past days. Mild to moderate explosions (14 during 26-27 Aug counted) produce ash plumes of 200-500 m height and weak to moderate glowing avalanches of bombs on the upper slopes.

The INSIVUMEH volcano observatory reported 11 strombolian explosions during the past 24 hrs interval with plumes rising up to about 600 m above the crater, and incandescent fragments ejected to 100 m above the crater, creating avalanches on the upper flanks. ... INSIVUMEH reports weak strombolian activity ejecting incandescent blocks to up to 100 m and producing small ash plumes about 200 m high, as well as continued lava effusion feeding a flow on the southern side of about 100 m length. [more]
