Strombolian activity remains intense and can now be followed in near-real time on a new webcam. Explosions occur at rates of one every 30 minutes approx. and shower many incandescent material onto the upper slopes, where they generate avalanches up to 2 km length. Activity has been elevated yesterday, with more frequent moderate and strong explosions accompanied by rumbling degassing sounds and shock waves that could be noticed in up to 20-25 km distance. Ash plumes rose to 500-700 m. The observatory warns that another stronger eruptive phase could occur in the next days or weeks. Mild to moderate explosive activity continues at the summit vent. Occasional strombolian explosions eject abundant incandescent material to heights of up to approx. 200 meters above the summit and generate ash plumes rising 500-800 m and drifting 8-10 km mostly to the S and SE. Strombolian activity remains relatively intense and the seismic signal suggests it currently increasing. The volcano observatory reported that during the past 24 hours, there were frequent small to moderate explosions with incandescent ejecta reaching up to about 100 m above the crater and ash plumes of up to 500 m. Shock waves commonly accompany the explosions. read all

After a short peak of activity, the volcano has been calmer today. INSIVUMEH reported weak explosions with ash plumes rising to 600-700 m above the crater, but does not mention any lava flow. ... read all
