Fuego volcano news & eruption updates:

Fuego volcano (Guatemala): strong explosions

Thu, 24 Apr 2014, 19:51
19:51 PM | BY: T
During the day, activity at the volcano picked up again. The observatory reports 6-14 weak to strong strombolian explosions on average per hour, that eject ash plumes up to approx. 1 km height.
Ashfall was reported from the villages La Rochela, Ceilán and San Andrés Osuna. The explosions are often accompanied by loud rumblings and shock waves that rattled roofs and windows of houses in the villages Panimaché, Morelia, Santa Sofia and others in distances of up to 15 km around the volcano.
The generation of lava flows and pyroclastic flows into the ravines draining from the volcano remains a likely scenario for the near future.
