Fuego volcano (Guatemala): paroxysm on 1 July, pyroclastic flows

The eruptive activity intensified into another paroxysm during 1 July, producing a lava flow, more than 1 km long, and relatively large pyroclastic flows through the Las Lajas drainage on the southeast side that reached 4-5 km length.
Areas in the La Réunion area near the Las Lajas river bed were evacuated.
After 2 July, activity decreased again and has by now returned to normal strombolian activity, with 4-6 explosions per hour, small to moderate in size, that produce ash plumes rising up to 1 km.
