Fuego Volcano (Guatemala): continued moderate to strong Strombolian activity

Fuego Volcano (c) Google Earth
Strombolian activity continues with OVFGO (Volcan de Fuego Observatory) reported 10 -15 explosions per hour over the past 24 hours. This generated grey ash plumes reaching 4500 to 4800 m.a.s.l (14763 to 15748 feet) and drifted W and SW approximately 25 km. There were reports of ashfall in the villages of Morelia, Santa Sofía, Palo Verde, El Porvenir, Panimache and San Pedro Yepocapa. The explosions generated moderate to strong rumbles, that could be heard 25 km away from the volcano. During poor light conditions, incandescent pulses, 300 and 600 m high were observed and also avalanches of ejecta, in the direction of the Taniluyá, Ceniza, Las Lajas, Trinidad, Seca and Honda canyon.
