Thursday Mar 05, 2020 09:18 AM | BY: MARTIN
Incandescence visible from Fuego volcano (image: Sentinel 2)
INSIVUMEH recorded 13-17 moderate to strong strombolian-type explosions per hour that generated a grey ash plume which reached approx. 14,107 ft-15,419 ft (4,300 m-4,700 m)
altitude. The plumes drifted towards the southwest direction.
Incandescence material is ejected to an approximate height of 300 m-400 m
above the crater with moderate to strong avalanches.
Lava flows on the Seca, Taniluya, Ceniza, Santa Teresa, Trinidad, Las Lajas Canyon remain active.
Ashfall was reported in several areas downwind including Santa Sofía (12 km SW), Morelia (9 km SW), Panimaché I and II (8 km SW), Finca Palo Verde, San Pedro Yepocapa (8 km NW), Sangre de Cristo (8 km WSW), and El Porvenir (8 km ENE).Source: Instituto Nacional de Sismología, Vulcanología, Meteorología e Hidrología volcano activity update 5 March 2020
