Gamalama volcano (Halmahera, Indonesia): elevated seismic activity

9 quakes have been detected with a maximum amplitude of 2-3 mm and a duration of 8-14 seconds.
Prior to the elevated seismic measurements, the activity at the volcano has continued at fluctuating levels characterized mainly by local tectonic earthquakes.
White-to-brown gas emissions continue to be observed about 5-250 meters above the summit crater.
The Volcanic Alert Level remains at Level 2.
People are advised to avoid the main crater within a radius of 1,5 km.

Gamalama volcano (Halmahera) - Smithsonian / USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report for 7 September-13 September 2022 (New Activity / Unrest)
PVMBG reported that the number of deep volcanic earthquakes at Gamalama increased during the morning of 14 September and nine volcanic earthquakes were recorded. A white-and-brown plume of variable density rose as much as 250 m above the summit.
