Ibu volcano (Halmahera, Indonesia) activity update, field report: lava flow and ash explosions

The activity at the volcano continues with little changes overall, as a small group on our recent "Volcanoes & Spices" volcano tour in northern Indonesia observed:
The central dome in the summit crater continues to produce a viscous lava flow traveling down through the prominent SW breach of the crater as well as frequent small to moderate ash-rich explosions, which typically reach a few 100 m height and drift in various directions.
Expedition leader Andi reported from our recent visit a few days ago:
"Activity dominantly with phreato-magmatic explosions and gently effusing lava on the north flank. Ash eruptions occured many times and created lightening. We felt the two earthquakes with magnitude 5.1 SR at the camp site; the hypocentre was located in North Molucca and Jailolo."
