Light magnitude 4.9 quake hits 53 km east of Banda Aceh, Indonesia early morning

4.9 quake 27 km NW of Sigli, Indonesia, 14 Nov 1.33 am (GMT +7)
Our monitoring service at VolcanoDiscovery identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.9 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc. Weak shaking might have been felt in Sigli (pop. 17,500) located 27 km from the epicenter, Banda Aceh (pop. 250,800) 53 km away, Sabang (pop. 24,500) 65 km away, Reuleuet (pop. 40,400) 66 km away, and Bireun (pop. 25,800) 107 km away.
