A magnitude 4.0 earthquake near Hirara, Miyakojima Shi, Okinawa, Japan, was reported only 26 minutes ago by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), considered one of the key international agencies that monitor seismic activity worldwide. The earthquake occurred at a moderately shallow depth of 50 km beneath the epicenter after midnight on Saturday 16 January 2021 at 12:40 am local time.
