Moderate magnitude 4.5 earthquake 51 km southeast of Sarangani, Philippines

Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported a magnitude 4.5 quake in the Philippines near Sarangani, Davao Occidental, Davao, only 15 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Friday 12 March 2021 at 9:51 am local time at an intermediate to considerable depth of 168 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.5 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Sarangani (pop. 7,500) located 51 km from the epicenter. In Glan (pop. 24,300, 106 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
