Moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.9 just reported 62 km northwest of Butuan, Philippines

According to Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the quake hit on Friday 23 April 2021 at 6:39 pm local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.3. A third agency, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), reported the same quake at magnitude 4.3.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Kibonsod (pop. 2,800) located 36 km from the epicenter, Buenavista (pop. 18,700) 50 km away, Cabadbaran (pop. 31,100) 51 km away, Mariano (pop. 70,500) 54 km away, Libertad (pop. 250,400) 59 km away, Butuan (pop. 309,700) 62 km away, Surigao City (pop. 87,800) 66 km away, Bugo (pop. 45,800) 99 km away, and Cagayan de Oro (pop. 445,100) 107 km away.
