An earthquake of magnitude 4.5 occurred only 18 minutes ago 83 km east of Nemuro, Russia, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.

The quake hit at a moderately shallow depth of 50 km beneath the epicenter near Nemuro, Nemuro-shi, Hokkaido, Japan, early morning on Wednesday 5 May 2021 at 5:33 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
