Moderate magnitude 4.4 earthquake 89 km northwest of Manado, Indonesia

Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported a magnitude 4.4 quake in Indonesia near Manado, North Sulawesi, only 22 minutes ago. The earthquake hit around noon on Saturday 31 July 2021 at 1:29 pm local time at a great depth of 315 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.4 earthquake as well.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Manado (pop. 451,900, 89 km away), Tomohon (pop. 27,600, 97 km away), Laikit, Laikit II (Dimembe) (pop. 8,000, 100 km away), and Tondano (pop. 33,300, 107 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
