Just 57 minutes ago, a 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck near the town of Fukagawa, Japan. The tremor was recorded early morning on Tuesday 3 November 2020 at 5.18 am local time, at an intermediate to considerable depth of 214 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt, based on preliminary calculations, include Fukagawa (pop. 26,200) located 16 km from the epicenter and likely affected by very weak shaking, Rumoi (pop. 26,500) located 25 km from the epicenter and likely affected by very weak shaking, Asahikawa (pop. 356,600) located 37 km from the epicenter and likely affected by very weak shaking, and Sapporo (pop. 1,883,000) located 95 km from the epicenter and likely affected by very weak shaking.
