Just 15 minutes ago, a 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck near Buin, South Bougainville, North Solomons, Papua New Guinea. The tremor was recorded early morning on Tuesday 30 March 2021 at 3:21 am local time, at a moderately shallow depth of 62 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Buin (pop. 750) located 112 km from the epicenter.
