Light magnitude 4.5 quake hits 53 miles north of Anchorage, Alaska around noon

An earthquake of magnitude 4.5 occurred only 6 minutes ago 53 miles north of Anchorage, Alaska, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported.
The quake hit at a moderately shallow depth of 21 miles beneath the epicenter near Susitna North around noon on Thursday 26 November 2020 at 12.12 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter. Weak shaking might have been felt in Susitna North (pop. 1,300) located 13 miles from the epicenter, Willow (pop. 2,100) 17 miles away, Talkeetna (pop. 900) 24 miles away, Trapper Creek (pop. 500) 24 miles away, Meadow Lakes (pop. 2,200) 25 miles away, Elmendorf Air Force Base (pop. 24,800) 48 miles away, Eagle River (pop. 24,800) 48 miles away, and Anchorage (pop. 298,700) 53 miles away.
