A magnitude 4.8 earthquake near Jand, Attock District, Punjab, Pakistan, was reported only 17 minutes ago by India's National Center for Seismology (NCS), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in this part of the world. The earthquake occurred at an intermediate to considerable depth of 220 km beneath the epicenter early afternoon on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021, at 3:40 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
