Moderate magnitude 4.5 earthquake 92 km southeast of Gosāba, Bangladesh

Just 12 minutes ago, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck near Gosāba, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, India. The tremor was recorded early evening on Monday 7 June 2021 at 6:30 pm local time, at an intermediate to considerable depth of 273.3 km below the surface.
The event was filed by India's National Center for Seismology (NCS), the first seismological agency to report it.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Gosāba (pop. 222,800, 92 km away), Sarankhola (pop. 36,500, 101 km away), and Mathba (pop. 29,800, 108 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
