Small 3.2 quake hits near Elko, Elko County, Nevada, USA

The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 3.2 quake in the United States near Elko, Elko County, Nevada, only 13 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early evening on Monday 7 June 2021 at 6:44 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 3.1 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.2 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Spring Creek (pop. 12,400) located 15 miles from the epicenter, and Elko (pop. 20,300) 21 miles away. In Carlin (pop. 2,300, 24 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.

Significant magnitude 5.4 quake hits 88 km southeast of Sendai, Japan in the morning

A magnitude 5.4 earthquake near Sendai, Sendai Shi, Miyagi, Japan, was reported only 11 minutes ago by Japan's National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in this part of the world. The earthquake occurred at an intermediate depth of 74.3 km beneath the epicenter in the morning on Tuesday 8 June 2021 at 10:19 am local time.
