Magnitude 3.2 earthquake strikes near Polkowice, Polkowice County, Lower Silesia, Poland

The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a magnitude 3.2 quake in Poland near Polkowice, Polkowice County, Lower Silesia, only 8 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early evening on Wednesday, June 22nd, 2022, at 6:07 pm local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 3.2 as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.2.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.

Weak shaking might have been felt in Polkowice (pop. 21,600) located 1 km from the epicenter.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Lubin (pop. 77,500) located 15 km from the epicenter, Chocianow (pop. 8,200) 15 km away, Glogow (pop. 68,500) 17 km away, Chojnow (pop. 14,200) 28 km away, and Legnica (pop. 106,000) 34 km away. In Nowa Sol (pop. 40,400, 41 km away), and Bolesławiec (pop. 40,700, 44 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
