Significant earthquake of magnitude 5.5 just reported 78 km east of Namie, Japan

An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 occurred only 18 minutes ago 78 km east of Namie, Japan, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter near Namie, Futaba-gun, Fukushima, Japan, in the morning on Thursday, August 4th, 2022, at 9:48 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 5.5 earthquake as well. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 5.6, and France's Réseau National de Surveillance Sismique (RéNaSS) at magnitude 5.6.

Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Namie (pop. 21,900) located 78 km from the epicenter, Iwaki (pop. 357,300) 105 km away, Ishinomaki (pop. 117,200) 108 km away, Sendai (pop. 1,063,100) 119 km away, Fukushima (pop. 294,200) 126 km away, and Kōriyama (pop. 340,600) 133 km away.
