Kambalny volcano news & activity updates:

Kambalny volcano (southern Kamchatka, Russia): activity decreases, no new ash emissions during past 3 days

Wednesday Apr 05, 2017 18:07 PM | BY: T
No more significant activity seems to have taken place at the volcano during the past 3 days.
The last documented ash emission took place on 3 April and had been generally decreasing during the days before that date. No other detailed information is available. There are no indications of high temperature at the summit of the volcano (which would show on satellite data), suggesting that no fresh lava reached the surface, i.e. the eruption was probably only phreatic in origin.
However, whether it is only a precursor of more activity to follow or will remain an isolated event is impossible to say. The alert level of the volcano remains at orange.
