Background
This largely eroded Pleistocene volcano NE of Rungwe has never been studied systematically (Fontijn et al., 2012). A phonolite/trachyte sample from Katete was K-Ar dated by Ebinger et al. (1989) at 2.35 +/- 0.04 Ma.---
