Ash emissions from Kirishima volcano this morning (JMA webcam)
The volcano's activity is currently elevated. Near-continuous ash emissions and ejections of very hot material (probably fresh lava) from the Shinmoedake crater started again after a period of intermittent activity the previous days. read all
