The lava dome remains active and produces hot avalanches on the western and eastern flanks. KVERT reports moderate seismic activity, incandescence of the volcano summit and medium to strong degassing.

Activity continues with little changes. Video data showed that the lava dome is still active and produces incandescence and hot avalanches on the western and eastern flanks. A volcanic ash plume rising to 15,000 ft (4.5 km) altitude from the volcano was reported last night by Tokyo VAAC. Most likely, a combination of an explosion and small lava dome collapse (dark area below glowing summit dome in webcam image) has produced it. [more]
